Engage in the conceptualization and development of RF & Microwave subsystems, encompassing components such as power amplifiers, low phase noise synthesizers, upconverters, low-noise receivers, front-end systems, antennas, and filters.
These designs will be realized on Printed Circuit Boards, waveguide structures, or as coaxial components, all while collaborating within a multidisciplinary project teamOversee the actualization, measurement, and assessment of prototype or production-ready designsContribute to the adaptation of prototype designs for seamless integration into industrial production processesProvide technical expertise to support system engineers throughout the project lifecycleActively participate in high-level system or conceptual design initiativesShoulder the responsibilities of an RF element leader within the project teamCoordinate and actively engage in design review processes to ensure quality and precisionCreate and meticulously maintain documentation, including specifications, comprehensive design data packages, and precise test proceduresServe as a subject matter expert, offering specialized knowledge for internal training initiatives as required within the disciplineExtend mentorship and technical guidance to colleagues in the same field, including interns, fostering a collaborative learning environmentPlay a pivotal role in managing the technical facets of company proposals and quotations for marketing and sales endeavorsSpearhead or actively take part in the advancement of critical technologies and innovations within the organizationSkills & Experience: A minimum of 8 years of RF & Microwave engineering experience, characterized by substantial involvement in design and implementation, the application of design methodologies, management of design baselines, a solid grasp of system engineering elements, proficiency in configuration management and quality assurance, and adeptness with pertinent technologies and toolsKnowledge in antenna design is expectedDemonstrating a rigorous and analytical design approachCompetence in utilizing schematic capture and PCB layout tools, with a preference for Altium DesignerFamiliarity with the following software is considered advantageous: Microwave Office, CST, LT Spice, Matlab/Python, and DOORSPossessing hands-on experience with a range of test equipment, including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, vector network analyzers, power meters, noise figure meters, and phase noise metersQualification:Diploma/Degree in RF EngineeringPost-grad master's degree or PhD is preferredOnly South African Residents or individuals with a relevant South African work permit will be considered.
