A Retail and Warehouse Manager for a furniture store in Polokwane is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of both the retail store and the warehouse.
This role ensures that customer service, inventory management, logistics, and staff performance meet the company's standards.
Below is a typical job description for such a position: Key Responsibilities: Retail Store Operations: Manage daily retail operations, ensuring smooth functioning of the store.
Supervise sales staff and ensure exceptional customer service is provided.
Monitor and analyze sales performance, setting targets and goals for the team.
Ensure the store layout is appealing, merchandise is well-displayed, and promotions are visible.
Handle customer queries, complaints, and resolve issues efficiently.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shopping environment for customers.
Implement loss prevention policies and procedures.
Warehouse Management: Oversee the receiving, storage, and dispatching of furniture from the warehouse.
Manage warehouse staff, ensuring efficient handling, packing, and inventory control.
Maintain accurate records of stock, ensure stock rotation, and conduct regular stock audits.
Ensure the warehouse operates in line with safety and compliance standards.
Coordinate logistics for delivery schedules, ensuring timely and accurate deliveries to customers.
Inventory Management: Oversee stock levels in both the store and the warehouse, ensuring adequate inventory without overstocking.
Monitor stock transfers between the warehouse and the retail floor.
Conduct regular stock checks and manage reordering processes to avoid stock shortages.
Staff Management: Recruit, train, and supervise retail and warehouse staff.
Manage staff schedules, payroll, and performance reviews.
Ensure that staff adhere to company policies, procedures, and health & safety standards.
Financial Management: Manage the store's budget and expenses, ensuring cost-effective operations.
Prepare and present sales, stock, and financial reports to senior management.
Monitor cash handling and perform regular reconciliations.
Customer Relations and Service: Ensure customers receive exceptional service in both the retail store and warehouse.
Address customer complaints, returns, and exchanges professionally.
Foster long-term relationships with clients by delivering excellent after-sales service.
Compliance and Safety: Ensure the warehouse complies with all health and safety regulations.
Implement and monitor compliance with company policies and standards.
Conduct regular safety training and inspections.
Qualifications and Skills: Proven experience in retail and warehouse management, preferably in the furniture or home goods sector.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
Knowledge of inventory management software and retail POS systems.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a managerial role in retail and warehouse operations.
Experience in the furniture industry or similar is highly advantageous.
Work Environment: The role is a mix of retail store and warehouse management, requiring time spent in both settings.
May involve occasional travel between warehouse locations and suppliers.
