Responsible Pharmacist (JB4819) Redhill, Durban R45 00 - R50 000 per month Duration: Permanent We are looking for a meticulous professional with a strong understanding of pharmaceutical regulations, quality control, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of pharmacy practice. The Responsible Pharmacist (RP) is accountable for ensuring compliance with the Pharmacy Act, and related legislation, supervising all pharmacy activities, and maintaining adherence to Good Pharmacy Practice guidelines. The RP ensures the safe and legal operation of the pharmacy, manages pharmaceutical services, and upholds quality standards throughout the distribution process. The ideal candidate will hold a valid registration with SAPC, and have a minimum of 3 - 5 years of experience. Minimum Requirements: Registered pharmacist with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC). Proven experience in pharmaceutical services, including knowledge of the Pharmacy Act and related regulations. Ability to manage and supervise pharmacy operations and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements. Strong understanding of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Good Warehouse Practice (GWP). Duties and Responsibilities: Regulatory Compliance: Ensure continuous supervision of the pharmacy. Maintain the SAPC registration and licenses as required by law, including Department of Health (DOH) and Medicines Control Council (MCC) licenses. Prominently display the name of the RP over the pharmacy entrance. Oversee the operations of a locum pharmacist when absent. Ensure that contracts with third-party contractors clearly define responsibilities. Quality and Safety Management: Establish policies and procedures for safe handling, storage, and distribution of medicines. Maintain accurate records of purchase, sale, and storage of pharmaceutical products. Ensure adherence to Good Pharmacy Practice standards. Handle product recalls, ensuring batch traceability and timely communication with the MCC. Complaint Handling and Product Recalls: Investigate and manage product complaints, including those involving adverse drug reactions. Maintain proper documentation of complaints and follow-up actions. Conduct recalls in compliance with regulatory procedures and ensure MCC notification. Warehouse Management and Good Warehouse Practice (GWP): Supervise proper storage conditions and temperature control. Maintain cleanliness and pest control standards within the warehouse. Implement continuous training for staff in SOPs and GMP/GWP. Manage returned, rejected, and quarantined goods, ensuring proper evaluation and disposal. Inventory Management: Perform regular stock reconciliations. Ensure correct procedures for picking, packing, and delivery of stock. Approve and maintain service level and technical agreements with suppliers and clients. Ensure proper documentation and compliance with regulatory guidelines for product handling and destruction. Overall Management: Update and maintain the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Conduct self-inspection audits and implement corrective actions as needed. Ensure the pharmaceutical facilitys operations align with legal and ethical standards.
