A leading multi-disciplinary project management firm urgently seeks a Resident Engineer on site to perform technical duties to plan and coordinate the construction of roads in the Koukamma region in the Eastern Cape.Qualifications And ExperienceBSc/BTech (Civil Engineering)Professionally registered - PrEng/PrTechEng10+ years' experience as Resident Engineer on road construction projects (Provincial or National)Must have been an RE on at least 1 SANRAL projects with construction value of more than R 100 millionKnowledge of asphalt patching and surfacing seal construction.Knowledge of COTO and FIDICExperience of SANRAL projects is preferable.Experience with BSM construction is preferableMust be computer literate in MS Outlook, MS Teams and MS ProjectKey AccountabilitiesProject Execution:Review of tender documentation and drawings to be undertaken immediately upon appointment.Management of site staff, including PLO, trainees and sub-consultants (materials laboratory, OH&S, EMP, etc.)Report to the Contracts Engineer and liaise with main contractorResponsible for monthly site, technical and PLC meetingsResponsible for monthly payment certificates.Prepare and submit WAF for approval.Apply the policies and procedures of SANRAL.Monitor environmental compliance.Record daily diaries of site progress.Prepare monthly progress reports.Applies, adheres, and manages site quality per ISO standardsMonitor and report daily on construction progress ensuring that the project remains within the budget and the construction program.Monitor the quality of the roadworks and other worksMonitor all safety procedures and take decisions to safeguard all employees and the general publicLiaison with landowners, local authorities and communitiesPrepare as-built drawings and close out reportCompetenciesProven project management skillsUnderstand how to communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfullyExcellent written and oral communication skillsExcellent administration skillsSound organisational skillsGood time management skillsProblem-solvingIdentifies critical issues with ease.Exhibits confidence and an extensive knowledge of emerging industry practices when solving business problemsPushes creative thinking beyond the boundaries of existing industry practices and client mindsetsProfessional QualitiesMust be able to work independently within a team of project personnelDemonstrate ability to read construction programsAchievement orientatedAbility to meet deadlines and handle pressureTeamworkFacilitates effective team interaction.Acknowledges and appreciates each team member's contributions.Be able to lead and motivate the site teamProvide technical supportBe able to transfer his/her skills and experience to the site personnelClient RelationsDevelops relationships with client personnel that foster client tiesContinually seeks opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and deepen client relationshipsManages client expectations effectivelyAssists in the facilitation of team and client meetingsDesired SkillsRoadworksConstructionConstruction ManagementProject management
