Description Conduct research on climate variability and drought risk management in the agricultural sector. Prepare and submit winning project proposals in collaboration with other scientists. Conduct technology transfer activities related to drought risk management. Contribute towards development and updating of climate services for the agricultural sector. Publish articles in peer-reviewed journals, conference proceedings, newsletters and other media. Undertake scientific networking nationally and internationally. Optimally utilize and supervise human resources allocated to relevant projects. Mentor junior research staff and students/interns.
Requirements PhD in Agrometeorology / Meteorology / Agriculture / Environmental Science. Proven ability to conduct agricultural drought risk management research. Proficiency in R, Matlab, Python or other scientific programming language The candidate must have a proven research background in agriculture and climate related disciplines. Good publication record in agrometeorology research Ability to work with communities. Willingness to travel away from home for intermediate periods. Good communication skills (written and verbal). Valid driver's licence (code B/EB).
