Research Physician (Oncology) | Cape Town (TASK Sites)Overall Purpose of the Position:
To fulfil the role of Sub-Investigator or Principal Investigator in oncology-focused clinical trials, assessing the safety and efficacy of novel cancer treatments or diagnostic options while upholding strict ethical and scientific standards.
Key Performance Areas (KPAs) & Responsibilities include, but not limited to: Providing specialized clinical care and support to oncology trial participants.Performing trial-specific procedures and evaluations as per study protocols.Ensuring participant safety by monitoring for adverse events and implementing medical interventions as necessary.Guiding and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, including laboratory, pharmacy, administrative, and clinical staff to ensure successful trial execution. Providing mentorship and support to junior staff members.Contributing to the management, coordination, and quality assurance of oncology clinical trials and related projects.Ensuring compliance with ethical, regulatory, and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) standards throughout the trial.Supporting the creation and implementation of oncology-specific recruitment plans and fostering positive relationships with patients and stakeholders to enhance trial participation and to meet clinical trial timelines.Ideal Requirements
• MBChB degree or equivalent, with a focus on oncology experience.
• Current HPCSA registration as an independent medical practitioner.
• Passion for clinical research, with oncology experience preferred.
• Good Clinical Practice certificate (Preferable).
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in oncology or oncology clinical trial experience.
• MPS or alternate professional indemnity (Certificate of insurance).
• BLS and ACLS (Preferable).
• Willingness to work flexible hours, over time and weekends.
• Flexibility to work at any TASK site (Cape Town).
