Your opportunity:
This position is in the research lab of Professor Amy Kirkham in the Faculty of Kinesiology and Physical Education and the 'Cardiometabolic, Oncology, Diet and Exercise in Women' (CODE-W) research centre. The lab and research centre characterize the intersection of cancer, cardiovascular, and metabolic disease in women and develop lifestyle interventions (exercise, diet, rehabilitation, etc.) to prevent or ameliorate these conditions.
The Research Lab Coordinator's primary purpose is to be responsible for the maintenance or control of research-related activities, in collaboration with other team members, for two different multi-centre randomized controlled trials of lifestyle interventions in women with breast (IMPACT) and endometrial cancer (RESILIENCE). The position will assist with recruitment, screening, and scheduling of patients for study assessments performed in the lab, then assisting with data collection and tracking of study progress.
Your responsibilities will include: Scheduling study participants for assessmentsDisseminating and collecting research questionnairesProviding some care to prevent physical harm by following safety screening criteria for participantsTracking and collecting information on project progressMaintaining a database of screened and enrolled participantsDocumenting and maintaining standard operating proceduresExchanging information in progress meetings with the study principal investigator and other team members in Toronto and EdmontonEssential Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology, Physical Education, Nutrition Sciences, Physiotherapy, Nursing, Physiology, Human Biology, Medicine, or other closely related field that involves application to humansMinimum of one year of experience in research, project management, or administrative work involving humans, preferably clinical or vulnerable populationsExperience in clinical settings (either research or healthcare) is an asset, including experience interacting with both clinicians and patientsStrong oral and written communication, team and customer service skills, and an ability to exercise judgment within established guidelinesStrong leadership, communication, organization, problem-solving, interpersonal skills, and professional demeanorAbility to work both independently and in a team environmentAbility to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and to multi-task while remaining organized and diligentTo be successful in this role you will be: ApproachableMulti-taskerOrganizedTeam playerNote: This appointment is for a 1-year term, with the possibility of renewal.
