Research Assistant: Research Technologist (S) Duration: 1 year (Full-Time) The South African Medical Research Council (SAMRC) is seeking to appoint a Research Assistant in its Health Systems Research Unit (HSRU). The purpose of this job is to assist and work with the study team on adolescent studies in the field of sexual and reproductive health. The studies will take place in KwaZulu-Natal and possibly other provinces within South Africa if needed.
Anticipated start date of the 1 February 2025 / 1 March 2025.
Responsibilities: Assist in training of field teamAssist in the logistical arrangements for data collectionSet up, manage, and monitor quality control and quality assurance processesEnsure data is collected, organized and stored according to SAMRC ethical principlesAssist with management and problem solving of the electronic data collection tools and processesLiaise with stakeholders (including participants, educators, healthcare staff, community)Translate and transcribe interview/ focus group discussion recordingsTranslate study material in English and isiZuluProduce reports on study progress for project manager and teamAssist with writing up the research outputsCore Requirements: 1- or 2-year diploma in public health/community liaison related field1-2 years' fieldwork experience in sexual and reproductive health research and/or programmesAt least 2-3 years' experience in community liaison and stakeholder engagementExperience with enrolling participants into studies, obtaining consent/assent, qualitative and quantitative surveysFluency in speaking and writing in English and isiZuluEffective organizational skills and the ability to work both independently and in a teamAdvantageous: 3-5 years' experience in community liaison and stakeholder engagementTerms & Conditions: The SAMRC retains the right not to make an appointment.
