We are looking for a Repairs Estimator in the Alberton area.
Objective:
Responsible for estimating the cost inputs (labour, materials, consumables, sundry) for HME capital and repair projects, with specific focus on the Repair department requirements.
Operations:
Utilize technical drawings, specifications, and other relevant information to accurately estimate cost of steel HME projects involving heavy manufacturing processes incl. cutting, bending, chamfering, boiler making, and welding.
Analyse steel material requirements based on project specifications, considering material type, thickness, and quantity.
Conduct detailed cost analysis for labour, materials, equipment & overheads to determine project costs accurately.
Prepare comprehensive / competitive scope of work documents for projects, ensuring accuracy and compliance with client requirements and Company standards.
Identify and assess potential risks / uncertainties associated with project estimates, proposing appropriate risk mitigation strategies.
Collaborate with suppliers to obtain competitive pricing for materials and services, negotiating favourable terms and conditions to optimize project costs.
Facilitate and document kick-off meetings and close-off meetings for all repair projects.
Maintain accurate and organized documentation of estimates, including cost breakdowns, assumptions, and supporting data.
Continuously evaluate and improve estimating processes and methodologies to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and competitiveness.
General:
Update PMO with status reports on quoting.
Work closely with the Commercial department regarding all related aspects.
Undertake site / factory visits to ascertain a deeper understanding of project / steel HME scopes of work.
Any other supplementary task or duty that is reasonably necessary to carry out the main function or duty of the job.
Education & Training:
NQF Level 5 in a related field (Operations / Engineering) advantageous.
Qualified artisan (Boilermaking / welding) training or work in a suitable past position advantageous.
Knowledge & Experience:
Minimum Experience Indicator: > 5 years experience in a similar position.
Piece part creation knowledge, exposure and experience.
Experience with Q&T steel structures in a HME mining sphere.
Fabrication methods and input knowledge, exposure and experience (FCAW, boilermaking, fettling, machining, etc).
ISO & OSHAS systems knowledge, exposure and experience.
Project management insights.
Skills & Abilities:
