Position: Renal Registered Nurse and/or Clinical Technologist
A vacancy exists for a Renal Registered Nurse and/or Clinical Technologist, based at Life Renal Dialysis, Atteridgeville, reporting to the Unit Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing holistic and optimal quality nursing care to renal patients to maximize a positive outcome for the customer in line with Company & Hospital strategic objectives.

Providing quality basic and specialized nursing careContinual communication with the patient and family regarding the patient's conditionAdministering medication in accordance with ethical and legal frameworksReviewing and complying with internal policies and protocolsEnsuring quality management systems and initiatives are conducted according to the unit specificationAdvocating for the patient by motivating acuity to the case management and notifying the doctor of any limitationsProvide effective people management by:
Interacting and communicating with a multi-disciplinary teamProviding training and development to ensure personal and professional growthEnsuring the Renal team works according to the scope of practice to ensure the correct skills mix is utilizedProvide effective cost management by:
Managing all stock used according to unit-specific policies and protocolsControlling and managing staff hours leave in accordance with the company policyProvide effective Infection Control and SHEQ by:
Maintaining a safe and holistic patient environment to enforce infection controlPromoting a safe and healthy working environment by completing SHEQ alerts and incident reports to the SHEQ CoordinatorEnsuring effective relationships with internal/external stakeholders by:
Conducting in-service orientation on doctor-specific preferencesExecuting doctor's requests and prescriptions after patient roundsAssisting multi-disciplinary team members with the execution of their dutiesEnsuring the effective functioning of equipment and instrumentation:
Checking equipment and instrumentation are in working condition daily and reporting any defaults to the Unit Manager and Clinical EngineerEducating and supervising staff and doctors on the correct utilization of specialized equipment and instrumentationEnsuring effective record keeping by:
Ensuring records are accurately completed and stored in accordance with legal and ethical requirementsRequirementsRelevant Degree or Diploma in NursingRelevant Degree or Diploma in Clinical TechnologyNurses - Current registration with SANCClinical Technologists (Renal) – Current registration with HPCSANursing work experience in a Renal UnitAbility to administer both acute and chronic dialysis treatmentsExperience and knowledge of all acute and chronic dialysis treatments in ICU and High Care settingsMust be willing to fulfill a role in the unit according to the flexi-hours system and acute dialysis call systemOwn vehicle with a valid license and flexibility to travel for acute dialysisAbility to work with dialysis machines makes and modelsCompetenciesProblem-solving, analysis, and judgmentResilienceEngaging diversityVerbal & written communication and presentationOrganisational awarenessDrive & energyExcellence orientationEthical behaviourBuilding relationshipsCustomer responsivenessTeamworkStrong interpersonal skillsEmail: ******
