We are seeking a qualified Theatre Operating Registered Nurse to join our team at Ribumed Day Hospital Glenwood. In this essential role, you will report to the Operations Manager and be responsible for delivering high-quality nursing care in the operating theatre. Your expertise will contribute to positive patient outcomes and enhance the overall surgical experience. Clinical Expertise:
In-depth understanding of surgical procedures and protocols.
Proficiency in operating theatre techniques, including scrubbing and assisting during surgeries.
Patient Care:
Knowledge of perioperative patient management, including preoperative assessment and postoperative care.
Ability to provide holistic nursing care tailored to individual patient needs.
Safety Standards:
Familiarity with infection control measures and sterilization protocols.
Awareness of health and safety regulations related to the operating theatre environment.
Communication Skills:
Effective verbal and written communication skills for clear interaction with surgical teams, patients, and families.
Ability to educate patients about procedures and address their concerns.
Team Collaboration:
Experience working within a multidisciplinary team, fostering a collaborative approach to patient care.
Understanding of the roles of various healthcare professionals in the operating room.
Critical Thinking:
Strong problem-solving skills to address unexpected challenges during surgical procedures.
Ability to make quick, informed decisions to ensure patient safety.
Professional Development:
Commitment to continuous learning and staying updated with advancements in surgical nursing practices.
Participation in training programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
Minimum Requirements:

Matric is essential.
Relevant diploma/degree is essential.
At least 2 years' experience as a scrub nurse is essential.
Diploma in medical and surgical nursing science/equivalent or related will be an added advantage.
Working experience as a recovery nurse will be an added advantage.
Must be able to practice within your scope of practice as a Registered Nurse.
Must be competent with the Hospital's Policies and Regulations.
Must have experience in handling drugs and scheduling is a legal requirement.
Must be prepared to work additional hours.
Must be able to work independently under minimum supervision.
Must be computer literate – MS Word & Excel.
Nursing Council Registration (SANC) (Required)
