A vacancy exists for a Registered Nurse (Renal Qualified), based at Life Wilgeheuwel Hospital, reporting to the Unit Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing holistic and optimal quality nursing care to renal patients in order to maximize a positive outcome for the customer in line with Company & Hospital strategic objectives.

Providing quality basic and specialized nursing careContinual communication with the patient and family with regards to the patient's conditionAdministering of medication in accordance to ethical, legal frameworkReview and comply with internal policies and protocolsEnsuring quality management systems and initiatives are conducted according to the unit specificationAdvocate the patient by motivating acuity to the case management and notify the doctor of any limitationsProvide effective people management by:
Interacting and communicating with a multi-disciplinary teamProvide training and development to ensure personal and professional growthEnsure the Renal team works according to the scope of practice in order to ensure the correct skills mix is utilizedGive feedback to the unit manager in order to assess optimal performanceProvide effective Financial management by:
Managing all stock used according to unit specific policies and protocolsControl and manage staff hours leave in accordance with the company policyProvide effective Infection Control and Health and Safety by:
Ensuring the use of personal protective clothing and complying with ISO requirementsEnsuring the disposal of medical waste in order to effectively control infectionMaintaining a safe and holistic patient environment in order to enforce infection controlPromoting a safe and healthy working environment by completing alerts and incident reports to the line manager and Quality manager.Ensuring effective relationships with internal/external stakeholders by:
Conducting in-service orientation on doctor specific preferencesExecute doctor's requests and prescriptions after patient roundsAssisting in multi-disciplinary team members with the execution of their dutiesMaintain a healthy relationship with external stakeholders by reporting and escalating unresolved issues to the unit managerEnsuring the effective functioning of equipment and instrumentation:
Check equipment and instrumentation are in working condition on a daily basis and report any defaults to Unit Manager and Clinical EngineerEducate and supervise staff and doctors on the correct utilisation of specialised equipment and instrumentationEnsuring effective record keeping by:
