A Vacancy exists for a Registered Nurse – ICU Qualified based at Life Beacon Bay Hospital, reporting to Culine Pretorius, Unit Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing holistic and optimal quality nursing care to critically ill patients in order to maximize a positive outcome for the customer in line with Company & Hospital strategic objectives.Critical OutputsTo provide quality patient care by:Providing quality basic and specialized nursing careContinual communication with the patient and family with regards to the patient's conditionAdministering medication in accordance with ethical, legal frameworkReview and comply with internal policies and protocolsEnsuring quality management systems and initiatives are conducted according to the unit specificationAdvocating the patient by motivating acuity to the case management and notifying the doctor of any limitationsProvide effective people management by:Interacting and communicating with a multi-disciplinary teamProviding training and development to ensure personal and professional growthEnsuring the ICU team works according to the scope of practice in order to ensure the correct skills mix is utilizedProvide effective cost management by:Managing all stock used according to unit specific policies and protocolsControlling and managing staff hours leave in accordance with the company policyProvide effective Infection Control and SHEQ by:Maintaining a safe and holistic patient environment in order to enforce infection controlPromoting a safe and healthy working environment by completing SHEQ alerts and incident reports to the SHEQ CoordinatorEnsuring effective relationships with internal/external stakeholders by:Conducting in-service orientation on doctor specific preferencesExecuting doctors requests and prescriptions after patient roundsAssisting multi-disciplinary team members with the execution of their dutiesEnsuring the effective functioning of equipment and instrumentation by:Checking equipment and instrumentation are in working condition on a daily basis and reporting any defaults to Unit Manager and Clinical EngineerEducating and supervising staff and doctors on the correct utilization of specialized equipment and instrumentationEnsuring effective record keeping by:Ensuring records are accurately completed and stored in accordance with legal and ethical requirementsRequirementsRelevant Degree or Diploma in NursingNursing experience in ICUStrong customer orientation, team player, very energetic and well-organizedMust be able to work under pressure in a continuously changing environmentStrong interpersonal skills requiredMust be willing to fulfill a role in the unit according to the flexi-hours system and call systemCompetenciesProblem-solving, analysis and judgementResilienceEngaging diversityVerbal & written communication and presentationInfluencingDrive & energyExcellence orientationEthical behaviourBuilding relationshipsCustomer responsivenessOrganisational awarenessEmail: ****** date: Wednesday, September 11, 2024Internal applicants - Before making an application, you are requested to discuss your application with your line manager.
