POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for maintaining overall management accounts of the school, liaising with Heads of school on school's monthly performance as well as managing the school's overall budget (Capex & Opex). Point of contact for school on any financial related matters.
DEPARTMENTAL STRATEGY:
Finance: To deliver accurate financial reporting, generating insight to management on opportunities for efficiencies and improvements ensuring that the finance function is a business partner. Build and strengthen the relationships with the headmasters.
STRATEGIC CONTRIBUTION OF THIS POSITION:
Ensure that Management accounts are accurate and timely complied and submitted to head office and provide Heads of school with guidance on accounting policies and procedures.
POSITION PROFILE:
Preparation and review of management accounts (P&L, BS and Cash Flow)
Including variance analysis,
identification of exceptions and anomalies,
Risk & opportunities to budget
Analysis of costs and other statistical analysis
Month-end provision adjustments/journal (BD, audit fee etc.)
Debtor related journals
Debtors with credit balance
Advance fees etc.
Oversee banking controls for schools:
Banking transactional processing (interest, bank charges)
FNB management, including cash transfers, recipient approval etc.
Performance of monthly bank reconciliations
Salary and payroll journals
Exceptional reporting and tax journals
Pre-paid expense management
Enrolment and billing recon review
Credit note approval and review
COGNOS and TM1 submissions for monthly management accounts
Regular interaction with Heads of School to provide general financial support and feedback in relation to financial performance
GL master data management on TASS/Financial systems
PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:
Monthly management account deadlines met, including timely query resolution from both school and head office management team
Overall responsibility for management accounts of each school as a divisional reporting pack

Income statement
Interest
Exceptional income/exp.
Tax and VAT submissions
Balance sheet
Bank and petty cash
Advance fees
Pre-payments
Salary accounts
Commercial Debtors
Staff loans
Bad debt provision
Sub ledger responsibility
All sub ledger review and reconciliation
