We naturally seek to empower staff and encourage diversity and opportunities for all.IntroductionTo perform daily and monthly reconciliations, administration and accounting support tasks, including updating and maintaining reconciliations, and other records, detailing financial transactions (e.g. payments, deposits), in accordance with statutory and service agreement standards.Financial Reconciliations ServicesAdminister and balance all custody and cash reconciliations for various client trading accounts by gathering information, contacting clients, and ensuring information is accurate.Supply reconciliations to internal and external clients timeously and in accordance with SLA.Query and correct extraneous payment items with the banks.Ensure that daily balancing and checks are in place to identify any variances.Verify, confirm payment statuses – double check if payments have been negotiated – administer and provide accurate recons for bank accounts, and update statuses from all shareholders.Identify problems, as well as high risk events, and raise items with management for assistance and resolution.Ensure supporting evidence is always available for all figures reflected in the reconciliation.Continuously seek to improve processes to create efficiencies and contribute towards enhancing the overall reconciliation process.Perform ad-hoc reconciliations.Systems AdministrationPerform system reconciliations on all payments trades, receipts and ad-hoc entries.Ensure any system discrepancies are escalated to the relevant teams to correct.Ensure high risk items are cleared off the client accounts as soon as possible.Update correct payment statuses from all shareholders.Download daily bank statements.ComplianceMaintain and improve quality results by adhering to standards and guidelines, recommending improved procedures.Operate within controls and procedures to ensure the integrity of the JIS.Identify and report risks or areas of concern to management within area of responsibility.Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and procedures.Customer ServiceMaintain effective working relationships with customers (both internal and external) towards rendering highest quality of services.Identify and solve problems whilst demonstrating a high level of integrity in line with the JIS core values.Cost ControlPromote the effective and transparent use of financial and other resources.Monitor expenditure and ensure spending occurs within budgetary limits and the JSE financial guidelines, reporting deviations to direct Manager.Explore opportunities to control and reduce costs.QualificationPreferred - Degree in Finance/Accounting.Experience2 – 3 years in Reconciliation, Financial Administration, Accounting, or similar experience.Additional RequirementsLicense: Code B.Professional Knowledge & SkillsUnderstanding of regulatory environment, laws, acts and rules.History of registers.Proficient in BDA.Understanding of FICA, STRATE and legal documents.Knowledge of share allocations, share vestings, trading processes, payments, dividend payments, equity settlements and corporate actions.Computer Literacy (especially advanced Excel skills, knowledge of MS Access would be advantageous).
