Our client is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join their team in Rustenburg. Responsibilities: Cost Estimation and Budget Management: Prepare detailed cost estimates for structural steel and civil works projects. Monitor project budgets, ensuring expenditures remain within approved limits. Conduct regular cost analyses to identify potential cost-saving opportunities. Contract Administration: Review and manage contracts, ensuring compliance with terms and conditions. Prepare and evaluate tenders, contracts, and agreements. Handle claims and variations in a timely and efficient manner. Project Planning and Reporting: Assist in project planning, scheduling, and resource allocation. Provide regular progress reports, including cost forecasts and risk assessments. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders. Procurement and Vendor Management: Source and procure materials and services for projects. Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to secure the best rates. Manage vendor relationships and assess performance. Measurement and Valuation: Conduct site visits to measure and value works completed. Ensure accurate preparation of interim and final valuations. Certify subcontractor payments and manage reconciliation of accounts. Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Effective communication and negotiation abilities. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities. Qualifications: Bachelors Degree or Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field. Minimum 5 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor, with a strong focus on structural steel and civils projects. Proven experience in handling medium to large-scale construction projects. Proficiency in cost management software and tools (e.g., CCS Candy, BuildSmart, or similar). Strong understanding of structural steel and civil engineering materials, standards, and practices. Excellent knowledge of contract law, particularly FIDIC, NEC, or JBCC. Valid drivers license and willingness to travel to project sites as required. Registration with SACQSP (South African Council for the Quantity Surveying Profession) or similar professional body is advantageous.
