Quantity Surveyor – Civil Engineering (George)
Company Overview: A leading Civil Engineering Contractors Company in George is eager to appoint an experienced mid-level Quantity Surveyor to join their successful team promptly (starting January 2025).
Role: As a Quantity Surveyor, you will assist in the estimation, costing, and contractual management of construction projects. You will work closely with senior surveyors and project managers to ensure accurate cost projections and financial control throughout the construction process. The ideal candidate must be a resident of George or in the process of relocating to this area.
Requirements:
• Qualification in Quantity Surveying or Construction
• 3 to 5 years of experience as a Site QS for contractors
• Fluency in English and Afrikaans (excellent verbal and written communication skills)
• Proficiency with industry-standard software and tools
• Innovative with excellent problem-solving skills
• Attention to detail and accuracy
• Above-average organizational skills
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to meet deadlines
Responsibilities:
• Assist in preparing tender and contract documents, including Bills of Quantities
• Conduct accurate cost analysis, estimates, and forecasting for construction projects
• Create and submit tenders to Project Managers and clients
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors to review and negotiate project proposals
• Prepare Bills of Quantities and other tender documentation to ensure fair and transparent tenders
• Conduct site visits to assess progress and ensure compliance with contractual specifications
• Assist in preparing progress reports, change orders, and payment certificates
• Monitor expenditures to ensure contracts adhere to budgets
• Maintain accurate project records, including measurement records and cost documentation
• Strong understanding of construction materials, methods, and technologies
• Exceptional analytical and mathematical skills
• Ability to interpret construction plans and specifications accurately
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams
• Familiarity with construction contracts and relevant legal regulations
• Proactive and self-motivated attitude, with a willingness to learn and grow in the field of quantity surveying
