Area/ Location: Bryanston, Sandton Job Description: Seeking an experienced and dedicated Quality Officer to join the team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in welding inspection, civil construction, and quality assurance within the industrial sector. Responsible for ensuring that all processes, materials, and finished products meet the highest standards of quality and safety. Key Responsibilities Welding Inspection Conduct visual and non-destructive testing (NDT) inspections on welding works to ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., ASME, API, ISO). Review and verify welding procedures and qualifications. Ensure adherence to safety regulations and quality standards in welding processes. Maintain detailed records of welding inspections, reports, and documentation. Civil Construction Quality Assurance: Oversee quality assurance processes for civil construction projects, ensuring all work is completed according to contract specifications and relevant codes. Review civil engineering plans, drawings, and construction methods to verify compliance with quality standards. Inspect construction activities such as foundation work, concrete pouring, and structural elements. Documentation & Reporting: Maintain comprehensive records of inspections, test results, and corrective actions. Prepare and submit detailed inspection reports to senior management and clients. Assist in the development of quality control plans and procedures. Process Improvement: Identify areas for improvement in the quality processes and recommend corrective actions. Monitor the implementation of corrective actions and ensure the effectiveness of solutions. Safety Compliance: Ensure that quality procedures adhere to all safety standards and regulations. Assist with the development and enforcement of safety policies related to welding and civil works. Required Qualifications and Skills: Experience: Minimum 5-8 years of experience in the industrial quality control field, with at least 3 years in welding inspection. At least 2 years of experience in civil construction quality assurance. Certifications: Welding Inspection Level 1 (or equivalent) certification is required. Any relevant civil quality assurance or construction certifications are a plus. Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of welding inspection techniques, including visual inspection and NDT methods (e.g., ultrasonic, radiographic, magnetic particle testing). Familiarity with civil engineering codes and standards. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications. Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality results. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Tools/Software: Proficiency in using quality management software, MS Office, and inspection tools. Desirable Skills: Experience in project management and coordination.
