Quality Engineer (Product Safety Representative)The Quality Engineer (Product Safety Representative) will ensure that the Group Africa adheres to the legal obligation to ensure product safety to avoid risks of loss/damages to person or property that arise from the use of vehicle products.Duties & ResponsibilitiesAssisting in new projects with the establishment of Product Safety, targeting complete implementation of actions/corrective actions to vehicle safety requirements for the prevention of repeat failures using the Product Safety catalogue (lessons learnt).Inspecting pre-series units in conjunction with other Q-type responsible PSBs to expedite safety-relevant problem recognition and corrective action implementation.Undertaking regular vehicle and line checks to evaluate current production (parts, part assemblies, and sub-assemblies), and obtain corrective actions for any potential safety-relevant problems detected.Representing the interest of the Quality Assurance Department during technical discussions with Service and the Product Safety Committee.Ensuring/initiating and/or assisting in the establishment of corrective action to resolve problems, tracking monitoring of the implementation of agreed actions, and verification of the effectiveness within the Production/Field with the Service Department.Desired Experience & QualificationNational Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.Experience needed:3-5 years' relevant experience in the automotive industry within Production/Product Engineering/Quality environment.Knowledge of vehicle functions (Body, powertrain, chassis, electrical).Ability to process and analyze complex data.Excellent report writing and presentation skills.Ability to communicate and present at all levels within the organization.Self-starter with the ability to work independently.Ability to make informed decisions and appoint accountability on behalf of the Group.
