Quality Coordinator
Reference: SW004689-JM-1My client, an established fruit exporter based in Stellenbosch, is seeking to employ a Quality Coordinator.The successful candidate must have a relevant tertiary qualification, in-house and/or external training in quality management, and industry training in export requirements/protocols.

Education RequiredRelevant tertiary qualificationIn-house and/or external training in quality managementIndustry training in export requirements/protocolsSkills RequiredGood negotiation skillsGood technical skills, especially knowledge of post-harvest disorders, their causes, and the impact of the export handling chain on fruit qualityThorough understanding of economics of claims management and the quantification of losses due to poor qualityThorough knowledge of the concepts of total quality management, quality assurance, and quality controlAttention to detail and neatnessExperience RequiredQuality-related experience with perishable products will be advantageous
Key Performance Areas
Accreditations and Market/Client Specific Requirements/ProtocolsKey Activities:Study and communicate client contracts and technical requirementsMarket/client specific label, marking & inner-packing requirementsKnowledge and understanding of market specific protocols and requirementsAssist Growers/Packing facilities in accreditations (Internal audits)Control and manage MRL's for various marketsKey Result Indicators:Cover all technical fields of contractNeed to adapt to structure and system changes, trends, and industry informationIncorporate requirements into packing guidesKeep up to date with their latest requirements and build relationshipsStay updated on latest changes and SOP regarding pre- and post-harvest chemicals
Effective Handling and Processing of Quality Feedback/InformationKey Activities:Analyse arrival report information and file all reportsFlag problem fruit on QXVerification and quantification of claimsInternal quality reportingCompile claim reports to growersKey Result Indicators:Manage disputes and conflict relating to impact of quality on supplier paymentsCalculate correct claim valuesDetermine whether the cause of the claim is inherent, caused by supply chain, or related to market conditionsPrevent risk on supplier payments for fruit with quality problemsReport on quality issues during the weekly Ops meetingClaim resolution and settlement within 28 daysCompile claim reports
Marine Insurance ClaimsKey Activities:Log claims with insurersFollow marine claim proceduresGather evidence and documents to support claimsCompile claim letter and supporting documentation per claimKey Result Indicators:Efficient recovery of losses from service providersIdentify actions to prevent re-occurrence in collaboration with Logistic service providers and SC
Fruit InspectionsKey Activities:Inspecting fruit at source, port, or market. Organizing third-party inspections through internal & external service providersProcess inspection information.Key Result Indicators:Pre-shipment quality control and appropriate action to be taken if necessaryCompile and upkeep of supplier's quality profiles
General Functions:Key Activities:Attend workshops and industry meetings.Compile grower/packhouse list and expiry dates of certificates. File all accreditation certificates and spray records. Compile receiver list and status of requirements etc.Familiarize yourself with market phytosanitary requirements and NDA specificationsKey Result Indicators:Remain informed of changing or new industry developments and/or requirementsCompliance to export / market requirements
