Responsibilities:Delegates and supervises subordinates with regard to routine and special tasks as required.Responsible for conducting Engagement Board sessions.Ensures that all QC Laboratory consumables are available for each shift, reporting such shortages to the QC Lab Manager.Ensures by regular inspections that the laboratories are clean and safe at all times.Carries out short term calibration checks on all laboratory equipment.Rectifies all faulty equipment where possible. If not, arranges for the faulty equipment to be repaired to prevent production disruption.Carries out testing of feedback samples.Trains staff on the Lims Computer system.Carries out regular spot checks on testing procedures.Supervises/instructs subordinates to report all results timely to the relevant production personnel, highlighting any deviations from specifications.Carries out troubleshooting exercises to identify quality problems such as high dirt count, low pulp brightness, etc.Carries out microscope fibre analysis to establish the proportion of short and long fibres in the process.Trains and assesses new staff competency levels.Maintains the continuous operation of the Lab Lims, troubleshooting and rectifying faults or calling out the Technical Dept. IS standby.Ensures that QC records and archive samples are kept in accordance with the specified procedure laid down by ISO 9001.Checks and rectifies the Daily Reports before distribution for the morning meetings.Carries out all re-tests of non-conforming products (failures according to Specs).Responsible for the final product grading of all final products produced.Carries out 4 hourly pulp evaluation, determines conformance to specification, and reports accordingly for Merebank Mill pulp dispatch purpose.Responsible for job observations and ensures that safety is adhered to at all times.Responsible for conducting Mission Direct Work (MDW) sessions on a daily basis.Assists with Slabs when required.Carries out any reasonable duties as requested.Your Profile:Matric with Maths and Science.National Diploma in Pulp and Paper or relevant tertiary qualification.3 to 5 years of experience in Quality Control.We Offer:Duration: Permanent.Get in Touch:We strive to create a culture that inspires our people to reach their full potential.
