A fast-paced manufacturing company has a vacancy for a Quality Assurance Specialist. This position is based in Westmead, Pinetown, Durban.
Position Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Quality Assurance Specialist to join our team. The QA Specialist will be responsible for ensuring that all footwear products meet the company's quality standards and specifications before they reach the market. This role involves close collaboration with the production, design, and procurement teams to maintain and improve product quality.
The successful incumbent will be expected to perform the following duties, not limited to:
Key Responsibilities:
Quality Control:
Conduct thorough inspections of raw materials, in-process products, and finished footwear.
Ensure all products meet established quality standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements.
Identify and document defects, deviations, and non-conformances, and recommend corrective actions.
Testing and Evaluation:
Perform various tests on materials and products to evaluate durability, strength, and overall quality.
Develop and maintain testing protocols and procedures.
Analyze test results and provide detailed reports to relevant departments.
Process Improvement:
Monitor production processes to identify areas for improvement and implement quality control measures.
Work with the production team to troubleshoot and resolve quality issues.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and efficiency.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of quality inspections, tests, and audits.
Prepare and present quality reports to management.
Ensure compliance with all quality documentation requirements.
Training and Support:
Train production staff on quality standards and procedures.
Provide guidance and support to team members on quality-related matters.
Foster a culture of quality awareness within the organization.
Education: Qualification in Quality Management or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in quality assurance, preferably in the footwear or apparel industry.
Knowledge: Strong understanding of quality control principles, testing methodologies, and industry standards.
Skills:
Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities.
Proficiency in using quality management tools and software.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with ISO quality management systems.
Knowledge of footwear production processes and materials.
Certification in quality assurance or related fields (e.g., CQE, Six Sigma).
Working Conditions:
Full-time position with standard working hours.
May require occasional travel to supplier sites and manufacturing facilities.
Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical inspections.
