Purpose of the Job: To oversee food safety and quality management systems in maize milling operations.
To lead a high-performing food safety team, ensuring finished products meet quality specifications and maintaining the site's compliance with GFSI (Global Food Safety Initiative) standards.
To ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations, driving continuous improvement and fostering a food safety and quality culture of excellent.
Key Responsibilities Customer requirements and standards: Implementing good manufacturer practices.
Investigate customer complaints with relevant site team members and provide timely feedback to customer service.
Ensure signed specifications are in place for all customers supplied by the site.
Conduct customer surveys and identify areas of improvement.
Complete customer questionnaire.
GFSI compliant: Plan and organize internal and cross site audits in alignment with Premier standards.
Lead external audits for food safety systems.
Maintain and uphold food safety and quality standards.
Train and enable teams on food safety and quality requirements, including updates and performance evaluations of the Food Safety Management System (FSMS).
Food safety and quality culture: Building and motivating capabilities through competency-based selection, training and development, effective communications, leading and participating in Invocom meetings, ensuring good discipline and accountability, establishing good, ethical and professional working relationships with stakeholders and ensuring a conducive and safe working environment.
Stakeholder management: Manage relationships with external service providers.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to drive continuous improvement across the value chain.
Guide management decisions through analysis of food safety and quality-related trends and reports.
Conduct supplier and service evaluations and assess and update the performance.
Statutory and Regulatory compliance : Ensure full compliance with food safety, quality, health and safety, and environmental regulations in line with Premier standards and SOPs.
Conduct training for relevant personnel and address audit findings with corrective actions in collaboration with the risk function.
Continuous Improvement: Promote a culture of learning and continuous improvement through Invocom and cross-functional collaboration.
Perform root cause analyses and implement corrective and preventive actions with relevant stakeholders.
Drive on-site continuous improvement by benchmarking internally and externally.
