MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:Must be a Qualified Automotive TechnicianTo repair and service Motor Vehicles according to manufacturer's standards and specifications.MAIN JOB FUNCTIONS:Establish parts required for service or repairs to be performed and ensure that correct parts are orderedReport to foreman promptly on any additional work requiredObtain authorization prior to carrying out additional workObtain authorization prior to fitting parts costing more than approximately R250.00Obtain technical information from Foreman on problem jobsAdhere strictly to technical specifications as laid down by manufacturersPerform duties according to manufacturer's standardsAdhere to laid down workshop policies and proceduresWrite short but concise description of all work performed on back of job card including the cause and correctionEnsure that all old parts are placed in a plastic bag in the boot of the car, except in the case of warranty work where old parts must be tagged and returned to the control towerEnsure that all oils and consumables used are booked on the job cardEnsure that vehicle is kept as clean as possible, and that seat and fender covers are usedEnsure that work area is kept safe, clean and tidyEnsure that time recording on time sheet is done correctly and as soon a possible after work is completedReport any faulty and / or broken equipment to the ForemanEnsure that special tools and equipment are used with the utmost carePossess complete set of own hand tools as per M.I.F.
list and maintain them in good working conditionRepair vehicles according to specifications as instructed and within flat rate timeAccept responsibility for apprentices / learners and impact through explanation and practice the necessary skills required to perform the job correctly and thereafter to inspect / monitor the work and rectify any problemsEnsure neat appearanceMaintain cordial relationship with workshop staffAccessories such as cigarette lighters and radios in customer's vehicles must not be tampered withNo private property in customer's vehicles must be removedAny components, parts, accessories and / or assemblies removed from the customer's vehicles must be kept together, stored safely and recorded for easy recognition of ownership, repair, replacement and / or correct re-assembly on the specific vehicleNo components, parts, accessories and / or assemblies / sub-assemblies, once removed as described, must be damaged, other than already previously quoted
