Global Bearing and Seals Manufacturing company has a vacancy for a self-motivated, assertive, problem-solving, Quality and Environmental Health and Safety Officer. The purpose of the role is to ensure the company's Environmental, Health and Safety compliance regarding applicable legislation, standards, and stakeholder requirements. Relevant Tertiary and legal compliance qualification required, with a minimum of 3 years experience as a QEHS Officer in a MINING environment. Mining experience is a must and non-negotiable. The position will be based on the East Rand, Gauteng. Requirements: Qualification: SAMTRAC and/or COMSOC 1 and 2 Qualification: Legal Liability Qualification: Relevant safety regulations as per South Africa's legal and statutory requirements Qualification: Incident Investigation Qualification: First Aid – Level 1 Qualification: Fire Fighting – Level 1 Qualification: Risk Assessor Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook. Unendorsed Driver's License Proficient in English Language Tertiary qualification in Quality/EHS will be an advantage ISO 9001; 14001, 45001 Internal auditing qualification is desirable Minimum 3 years experience in EHS Officer role (within mining industry) Knowledge of legislation (OSH Act, MHSA, NEMA) Passport 360 knowledge HSEC Online knowledge Experience in compiling safety files for a mine Experience working as HSE Safety Officer at a mine Proficient in Planning/Scheduling and effective time-management Will be required to attend medical fitness assessments Will spend time at a desk working on a computer and attending meetings, and site visits at times as well. Willingness to travel to customer and/or supplier sites Duties: Support the development and implementation of QEHS policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable legislation. Support local managers, and relevant staff to ensure full alignment to QEHS requirements. Keep updated with the changes in environmental health and safety regulations and best practices. Ensure Legal compliance. Ensure updated Health and Safety records. Ensure updated and documented systems, standards & procedures in place. Ensure Quality and completion of Contractors packs. Meeting minimum client requirements with regards to Inductions, ID Cards, permits and Vehicle inspections. Actual safety meeting and tool box talk attendance. Record of feedback and recommendations given. Cost effective PPE Management and timeous availability of PPE. Ensure updated and maintained legal appointments. Ensure updated Risk Assessments.
