Job title : Protocol Assistant Job Location : Gauteng, Pretoria Deadline : January 04, 2025 Quick Recommended Links Jobs by Location Job by industries Duties Under the supervision of the Senior Protocol Assistant, and in collaboration with the Ambassador and Deputy Chief of Mission's Office Management Specialists, the incumbent contributes to organizing and managing major representational events for the Mission, including the annual official Independence Day reception, as well as independently organizing functions hosted by the Ambassador, or Deputy Chief of Mission.
These events can include, but are not limited to, lunches, dinners, and receptions.
The incumbent coordinates closely with staff at the Ambassador and DCM Residences, with colleagues in the Protocol, Executive offices, and other sections.
Qualifications and Evaluations Requirements: All selected candidates must be able to obtain and hold a:  security certificate; or  Public Trust security clearance.  All selected candidates will be subject to a background investigation and may be subject to a pre-employment medical exam.   Selected candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time 12 weeks upon receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.
Education Requirements: Two year diploma in Business Administration, Public Relations, Arts & Culture, Events Management or Project Management is required.

Qualifications: Experience :   Minimum of three years of progressively responsible work experience in Public Relations, office and/or event management is required.
Language:  Fluency in English - speaking/reading/writing of English is required.  Job Knowledge:   Must have comprehensive knowledge of South Africa's protocol guidelines, general etiquette and social aspects of the political structure and situation of the host country.
Must possess knowledge of South African government protocol and social customs.
Skills And Abilities :   Must possess considerable tact and political sensitivity, which must be exercised daily with high-level officials.   Proficiency in with Microsoft Office is required.
Must be able to prepare invitations, documents, spreadsheets etc.
Must be well organized and attentive to detail.
Must be willing to work flexible work schedules, including evening and weekend hours and be able to travel on occasion, inside the country.
Typing skills with speed and accuracy is required.
