We are looking for a Project Manager in Johannesburg who is self-motivated and driven by the goal of establishing Turner & Townsend as the #1 Consultancy.
Reporting to the head of the business unit the individual will be responsible for delivering projects, securing new and maintaining existing clients and promoting the values of Turner & Townsend.Our people are the key to our success and are our most important asset.
As Project Manager you will join our Johannesburg Infrastructure team to provide services that help our clients devise strategies to deliver successful business solutions prior to sanction, achieve confidence around project delivery, ensure projects are effectively managed & controlled and facilitate the capture and transfer of knowledgeJob DescriptionProject Managers handle commissions of varying scale and value; depending upon the complexity of the project etc., including advising on specific Project Management functionsProject management responsibilities include:Provide strategic advice at the programme identification / definition stages, including advising on development of the Programme Brief in relation to the Sub-programme / Workstream for which he / she is responsible and the different approaches that might be adopted in order to realise the desired benefits / outcomes and / or achieve the Client's strategic objectives.Advising at a strategic level at the project conception stage, including providing advice on the different approaches that can be adopted in order to successfully achieve the client's overall objectivesDetermine phasing, sequencing and interdependencies between projects and the management and logistical arrangements that need to be implemented to successfully deliver the Sub-programme.determine the procurement strategy for the programme, and identify and confirm the availability of all resources needed to deliver the Sub-programme in accordance with the Clients requirementsLead and direct the project managers responsible for delivery of the projects included within the Sub-programme, liaising as appropriate with the programme office, specialists and where applicable, Clients staffLeading the establishment of the overall success criteria for the project, including time, cost, technical and performance parametersPlanning for and the ongoing management of quality, safety, health and environment issuesEstablishing effective project governance, processes and systems to be utilised throughout projectProject planning, including ensuring the production of the detailed project planAdvising upon the procurement of resourcesLeading and facilitating the overall cross-functional project teamMonitoring and applying performance management techniques, including the use of KPIs to improve project performanceManaging the change control processMonitoring and advising upon project financesManaging the flow of project information between the team and the client, through regular meetings and written communicationsEnsuring the production of formal project progress and other reportsTaking a leading role in interfacing with the client and other consultants, at all project stagesMarketing and business development, to include:Taking responsibility for developing new business opportunities with existing and new Turner & Townsend clientsIdentifying and acting upon cross-selling opportunitiesWorking with Associate Directors and Directors to construct bids for new workAttending formal client pitches with Assistant Directors and DirectorsEnsuring that project case study, photograph and project CV files are kept up to dateIdentifying and acting upon opportunities to improve project management products and servicesQualificationsDegree in Construction Project Management or equivalent qualification8+ years' experienceMust preferably be registered with a professional body as Professional Project ManagerIndustry knowledge and exposureProgramme Management knowledge base and enterprise programme management working experienceAdditional InformationAs the Project / Programme Manager you will have responsibility, amongst others, for the service stream in terms of Project Resourcing, Best Practice and Knowledge Management, Tool & Systems, Key Account Management, Service Opportunity identification and Service Development.
