Project Preparation Specialist

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:A bachelors degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, or Finance.A minimum of 5 years experience in appraising, negotiating and committing project preparation in support of corporate finance or structured finance transactions in a financial institution.Experience in doing business in South Africa with Municipalities is a requirement.Demonstrated experience and understanding of the water sector as well as the project preparation cycle and requirements to prepare bankable projectsKnowledge and understanding of all legislation relevant to the business as well as the water sector (i.e., PFMA, MFMA, PPPFA, NWA, WSA, etc.)Strong knowledge and experience in working with local government planning cycle and processesKnowledge and experience in Public Private Partnerships (PPP)Knowledge and experience in Climate ChangeDemonstrable track record of working with high level government stakeholdersComprehensive knowledge of the complex regulatory environments of municipalities / metros, state-owned enterprises and other government entities in South AfricaDemonstrated sound understanding of limited recourse and balance sheet funding, the process required to prepare projects, and financing documentation required to present projects for investment decisionExperience in leading an internal team of sector specialists and analysts to appraise and present transaction to internal committeesExperience in appointing and managing a team of external consultants/advisors (technical, environmental, financial and legal) to prepare and present the Project Information Memorandum (PIM) to prospective financiersExperience in analysing sponsors financial statements, understands and reviews financial modelsDemonstrated understanding of the water sector to identify potential fatal flaws generally associated in this sector in projects presented and key risks to be mitigatedDesirable Requirements A post-graduate qualification in Business, Economics, Engineering or FinanceCA, CFA or MBA qualificationDevelopment finance expertise would be an advantageExperience in using financial models and project finance / investment banking experience would be advantageousPlease note that if you have not received a response within 14 days of submitting your application that your application was unsuccessful.
