Project Operations Manager (Expat)

Our client is looking for a dedicated and experienced Project Operations Manager to oversee and streamline the management of multiple conservation projects. This role will be based in Zambia, and is essential to driving the success of the organization's strategic objectives while maintaining a positive team culture. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with various departments and the Senior Management Team (SMT) to ensure project excellence and efficient resource management. Responsibilities: Act as the primary link between teams, ensuring collaboration and capacity building. Direct and prioritize department activity plans in line with the mission and strategic pillars of the organization. Conduct regular field assessments and adapt project strategies based on findings in collaboration with the Senior Management Team. Prepare detailed reports for stakeholders, funders, and the SMT. Manage project budgets, tracking real-time expenditures against approved operational budgets. Assist in developing project plans, schedules, and budgets, ensuring smooth workflow and project progress. Identify project risks and assist in developing mitigation strategies. Organize and maintain all project documentation, including contracts and reports. Innovate and streamline current processes for better efficiency and project outcomes. Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and wildlife conservation best practices. Participate in strategic partnership building and fundraising efforts as appropriate. Key Skills: Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments. Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on efficiency and innovation. Strong analytical skills, with the ability to assess risks and implement mitigation strategies. Proficient in project planning, proposal writing, financial management, and reporting. Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written, in English (German is a plus). Proficient in MS Office and management software. At least 7 years of professional experience, with 4 years in project management, leading multidisciplinary teams. Proven success in managing large-scale conservation projects, institutions, or NGOs. Experience in conservation, natural resource management, or international development, particularly in Zambia or the subregion. Experience working with donors and preparing funding proposals. Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Environmental Science, Conservation, or a related field (Masters degree in Business Management, Communications, or a similar field is an advantage).
