Project Materials Manager

Leading international corrosion protection contractor and coatings manufacturer, has a vacancy for a Materials Manager for a 6 month contract period.
The successful candidate must be able to start immediately.
No permanent employment is guaranteed after the project completion.
Desired Requirements: Degree or National Diploma in Materials Management Proficient in Excel, Word, MS Projects and PowerPoint (as a minimum).
Valid and unendorsed driver's licence   Desired Experience: Minimum 5 years' experience in materials management.
Grit blasting, heavy-duty coatings and corrosion protection will be an advantage.
High-level organisational and record-keeping skills.
In-depth understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
Good understanding of the Basic Conditions of Employment Act.
Compilation of procedures, site/project plans and associated documentation.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Problem-solving: Approach issues decisively.
Use critical thinking to analyse problems, devise solutions, and apply them effectively.

Proficient with inventory reporting systems.

Excellent assertiveness skills.
Be able to work under pressure.
Duties and responsibilities: The Materials Manager will oversee the planning, procurement, storage, control, and distribution of materials and products for the project.
Identifying material requirements, sourcing ideal suppliers, managing inventory and logistics.
Directs production and inventory control, shipping and receiving, and materials/equipment storage.
Maintains inventory levels to ensure deliveries occur within required timelines.
Maintains and ensures the accuracy of the perpetual inventory system.
Identifies opportunities to reduce transportation costs and charges.
Procurement of materials required for the project.
Analysing financial reports, price proposals and other information used to determine reasonable pricing.
Meeting with vendors and staff to discuss unacceptable and defective products and establish corrective action.
Manage the storeman for the project.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
