The role The Project Manager is driving the technical implementation of Upstream's digital services for Mobile Network Operators.
The role is instrumental in ensuring smooth local technical setup and rollout of Upstream's global portfolio, and planning of corresponding activities while building and maintaining at the same time effective relationships with its technical counterparts.
The position is based in Johannesburg, South Africa, and reports to the Regional PMO and IT Operations Director Africa.
This role is ideal for someone with high potential who wishes to be rewarded for outstanding performance while having the opportunity to gain valuable experience on complex mobile marketing projects.
Key Accountabilities Analyze and execute regional strategy according to account roadmaps, support new products' deployment and operational targets, in cooperation with Account Management and IT Operations team Drive the definition of project specifications and client requirements, involving all relevant departments and ensuring technical feasibility and resource availability Produce project plans and safeguard their smooth execution, within scope, budget and timelines, monitoring and controlling all activities from initiating to closing phase Feedforward and back to/from client technical items to be clarified, signed off and implemented Managing client relationships and expectations in cooperation with the Account Manager Establishing and maintaining relationships with third parties Reporting and escalating to management as needed Writing clear briefs for the Development, Operations and Technical Support departments Requirements Very good educational background, preferably in the fields of Computer Science or Engineering 3-6 years of work experience in Mobile Network Operators and/or IT industry - generally, in technical divisions as a Project Manager, Technical Account Manager, Sr.
Engineer and/or Consultant Solid technical background with understanding and/or hands-on experience in mobile technologies, software development, and web technologies Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English MBA and/or PMP/PRINCE II certification are considered a plus French speaking will be considered a plus Personal Characteristics Able to perform under pressure and deliver results in a demanding and fast-paced environment that requires fresh thinking and innovation.
