The purpose of this role is to ensure the safety, quality and financial performance of drilling operations in the entity.
In addition, this role will be responsible to lead the Account Management team to execute drilling contracts effectively.
Duties and Responsibilities: Project Planning & Initiation.
• Develop a Project Readiness Plan.
• Source and provide operational information for effective and accurate estimation of new project proposals.
• Source contract initiation resources including human resources, inventory, plant & machinery, sub-contractors and capital.
• Conduct distribution planning and scheduling of contract initiation resources including human resources, inventory & plant & machinery.
• Ensure compliance with government regulatory, tax and legislative requirements before and during distribution of resources.
• Ensure compliance with client contract initiation requirements for effective on-boarding of resources.
• Ensure compliance with contract terms and conditions and identify and control contract initiation baseline risks.
Project Performance Management • Ensure that the Project Readiness Plan is delivered in accordance with schedule, budget and scope requirements.
• Review and approve monthly budgets and expenditure (for projects and tenders.)
• Monitor project productivity and identify corrective action interventions when required.
• Monitor and integrate cost saving initiatives into budgets and controls expenditure within approved parameters.
Project Execution Management.
• Critically analyse information, challenges and trends to establish and implement fact-based solutions.
• Ensure compliance with company and client policies and procedures.
• Ensure compliance to safety and quality standards during project execution.
• Provide Technical advice to Project teams.
• Ensure the effective resourcing of contracts.
This includes special tools, critical inventory, plant and machinery and skilled staff.
Stakeholder Relations.
• Manage relationships with clients, mines and sub-contractors.
• Create effective relations with Group Shared Services, as well as with supply chain, HR, IT, Finance, SHEQ and commercial teams, and adhere to SLAs.
• Engage with commercial teams and provide input relating to claims and scope changes New Business Development • Identify and action potential new business- and cross selling opportunities with existing clients.
Team Leadership.
• Perform Visible Felt Leadership on sites through demonstrating the company values.
• Drive and partake in the selection, development and motivation of the Production team to contribute effectively and efficiently to the achievement of MD's objectives.
• Proactively anticipate future production team requirements by identifying training and development needs and establishing a sound succession plan.
• Identify resources for the external talent pool which supports the achievement of a high-performance entity.
• Manage team performance by setting and monitoring performance standards and taking action to correct deviations to achieve the entity objectives.
Minimum Qualifications/Certifications • Bachelor's degree in engineering.
• Internal/Industry Specific Certifications.
Minimum Experience • Engineering in a construction/mining environment.
• Minimum 10 years relevant operational construction (civil concrete or mining works) experience.
• Minimum 3 years Management experience in a Mining environment.
