ENVIRONMENT AND HEALTH RESEACH UNIT (DURBAN/CAPE TOWN/JOHANNESBURG/PRETORIA)The South African Medical Research Council (SAMRC) strives to improve the nation's health and quality of life by funding and conducting relevant and leading health research.

Project Lead (2)Duration: 3-year ContractThe South African Medical Research Council, Environment and Health Research Unit (EHRU) requires a suitably qualified and experienced Research Coordinator.
This position falls under the EHRU's Programme for Climate Change and Human Health.
Applicants should have a keen interest in research related to environmental or public health.This position aligns with two large projects being carried out by the Climate Change and Human Health Programme team.
These projects focus on climate change, air pollution and health.
Applicants should have a keen interest in research related to environmental or public health.
The individual will be required to have strong communication skills and research translation experience because a main aim of this position is to produce research-related output for lay peopleTo cover the multifaceted aspects of the post, we require an energetic person with a strong theoretical and practical background / experience in environmental health.Responsibilities:To manage staff's performance at one site across more than one study project.Staff training.Process improvement to ensure process optimization.To manage research projects.To contribute to research translation activities.Report compilation and presentations of findings at various forums.Financial management and administration work.Core RequirementsMaster's degree in environmental health, public health or relevant field for this position.At least 2 year working experience in environmental health, public health studies or a research environment.Experience with writing research reportsExperience writing research output / social media output.Experience managing a portfolio of research translation productsAdvantageous: 3 - 4 years in a research environment, organisation of research output, research translation and website/internet uploads.
