Job Description
Project Management:
Create and track timing plans for overall scope and individual activities.
Translate voice of the customer to critical to quality requirements.
Ensure milestones are achieved on time.
Stakeholder engagement and management - Communicate clearly and objectively.
Compile reports.
Support Commercial with RFQs.
Manage ECIs for new projects.
Follow customer APQP processes.
Advanced computer skills: Office 365, Sharepoint, Advanced Excel, MS Teams.
Process Design:
Design all stages of the production process.
Design processes around lean principles.
Consider investment vs return.
Research new manufacturing methods.
Implementation of new processes.
Develop & troubleshoot new processes.
Process Documentation: FMEA, PIs, BOMs & Process Sheets.
Setting Parameters & Maintenance Checklists.
Commission new facilities.
Budget & Capex Planning:
Evaluate and estimate capex and tooling requirements for new projects.
Jigs and fixtures, custom built machinery.
Civil and plant, off the shelf machinery.
Track planned vs actual expenditure.
Jig, Fixture & Machine Conceptualization & Design:
Conceptualize jigs & fixtures.
Work with internal, local & international designers/machine builders.
Propose concepts.
Drive the design process.
Negotiate capex/tooling budget based on investment vs return.
Justify capex/tooling budgets with simulations and studies.
Sheet metal design.
Jig and fixture design.
Understanding of mechanical machinery/jigs/fixtures and operating principles.
Understanding of pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
Conduct design reviews.
Product Design:
Rapid product development.
Use CAD to design new products according to customer specifications.
Fabricate prototypes.
Field testing and demos.
Simulation testing, DFMEAs.
Liaise with suppliers regarding material sourcing.
Design & develop within required timeframes.
BOMs.
Innovation of Current Manufacturing Methods:
Use lean principles to identify Kaizen opportunities.
Use statistical and financial data to justify Kaizens.
Improve current processes to improve quality, efficiency & scrap.
People Development:
Train shift leaders on new processes.
Develop and mentor students and interns.
Self-development of engineering skills.
Problem Solving & Investigation:
Conduct detailed investigations to support Quality with regards to field failures.
Conduct detailed investigations into manufacturing problems.
Support production with innovative solutions to manufacturing difficulties.
Job Requirements
2+ years minimum Automotive engineering experience.
Project management experience.
N Dip / B-tech Mechanical Engineering or relevant technical experience.
Core Tools 1,2 & 3.
Design & drawing experience (CAD).
VDA 6.3 Process Auditor Qualification / IATF / MLA.
Problem Solving Course / Skills.
Project Management Certification.
