Project Engineer I - Protection
Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks an experienced Project Engineer Protection to provide technical support to customers and join our team in Centurion! A successful candidate must have knowledge and experience for transmission and distribution systems, knowledge on power system protection, relay testing and commissioning, knowledge on procedures of power system protection, settings, and testing and related SEL products. As a Project Engineer I - Protection, a typical day might include the following:
Possesses, understands and applies the fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of power system focus system protection, protective relays and their applications, settings, and testing and related SEL products.
Train and assist customers with the creation, design, configuration, validation, installation, commissioning and operation of protection systems.
Complete and implement assigned work within agreed upon scope, schedule and budget to a high level of quality and safety.
Participate in the preparation of functional design specifications.
Prepare and maintain detailed design documents, reports, checklists, test reports, and deliverables.
Follow and apply SEL Values, Principles of Operations, and World Class Manufacturing Principles.
Understand. Create. Simplify.

This job might be for you if you have:
B.S. in Electrical Engineering or relevant discipline
Minimum 2 years of experience in electric power systems, industry practices, and system protection
Good knowledge of electric power system protection and control, integration and communications applications
Working knowledge of electric power system design, studies, information and communication technology and protective relay applications
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally over 60% of the time
