Description
The Project Director is a key leadership position and a visionary leader who drives the strategic implementation and operational excellence of pharmaceutical systems and supply chain strengthening programs. With full accountability, the Director leads a diverse team to deliver impactful results in alignment with USAID goals, contractual requirements, and MSH standards.
The Project Director has full accountability and authority for the development, execution, and monitoring of the program, including vision and technical strategy, project management and compliance, documentation and communication, client and stakeholder relationships, and coordination and synergy with other relevant initiatives and collaboration with the National Department of Health (NDoH) and USAID.
The Director leads the program team in strengthening supply chain performance and governance, pharmaceutical systems across both public and private sectors. The Director provides leadership in supporting NDoH to implement supply chain and pharmaceutical system strategies aimed at operationalizing National Health Insurance aligned with USAID mission priorities in South Africa.
Key Responsibilities:
Setting the strategic vision
Managing the program in compliance with contract requirements
Managing relationships with partners
Overseeing the execution of the project's results framework
Promoting thought leadership
Leading program advocacy
Creating an environment conducive to collaboration, learning, and performance improvement
Supervising the members of the Program Management Team
Minimum Requirements:
Master's degree or higher in a related field
Program management experience
Technical expertise in supply chain management
At least 15 years of professional experience in the management or implementation of international development activities
Strong management, interpersonal, written and oral communication, mentoring, supervision, and facilitation skills
At least five years of experience working in partnership with U.S. Government agencies, international donors, or other multilateral agencies
