Project Coordinator, Countering Wild Cat Trafficking Networks About Panthera Corporation Founded in 2006, Panthera is devoted to the conservation of the world's 40 species of wild cats and the vast ecosystems they inhabit. Our team of biologists, data scientists, law enforcement experts and wild cat advocates studies and protects the seven species of big cats: cheetahs, jaguars, leopards, lions, pumas, snow leopards and tigers. Panthera also creates targeted conservation strategies for the world's most threatened and overlooked small cats. With our supporters around the world, we inform the public about the plight of wild cats, help local communities live in harmony with wild cats, protect wild cats and their prey from poaching, fight the illegal wildlife trade and safeguard the precious landscapes wild cats need to survive. Position: Project Coordinator, Countering Wild Cat Trafficking Networks Reports to: Counter Wildlife Crime Director Panthera Division: Conservation Science Location: Cape Town, South Africa Position Type: Full-Time Remuneration: USD 50000-USD 60000 per annum including benefits based on qualifications and experience The Project Coordinator is primarily responsible for the management of Panthera's U.S. Government INL/GPP-funded project, "Building International Capacity and Transnational Networks to Counter Big Cat Trafficking," a multi-year, multi-region project implemented since 2018. Working in conjunction with technical leads and regional project implementation teams, and supervised by the CWC Director, the Project Coordinator will oversee the effective implementation of all project activities. They will be responsible for implementing systems for project planning, monitoring, and overall administration, as well as lead on project reporting. The project spans five geographic regions, West & Central Africa, Meso & South America, and Southeast Asia, so the successful candidate must be comfortable collaborating remotely with dispersed and diverse teams to perform the duties of this role. There is significant scope for growth within this role including the management of other CWC-related grants.  The CWCTN Project Coordinator has the following specific responsibilities: Coordinate with technical leads, regional teams, and hub directors to ensure the effective implementation of INL/GPP project activities;Develop and oversee maintenance of comprehensive project work plans for Panthera regional implementation teams and sub-awardees that include project-specific deliverables and timelines, spending projections, budgets, metrics and indicators;Actively engage with technical leads, regional implementation teams, and sub-awardees to track progress on project deliverables, trouble-shoot and assess spending and budget modification needs and adjust workplans in relation to emergent issues;Draft quarterly technical reports and review quarterly financial reports for INL/GPP;Oversee drafting of budget modification requests and associated documentation;Oversee the drafting of subaward agreements, reporting and associated documentation;Oversee the review and approval of all project-related expense reports and invoices, liaising with the project administrator, accounting teams and field staff as needed to resolve errors or misreporting against the project budget;Develop pre- and post-event documentation including formally identifying training needs, training materials, participant questionnaires and collate progress against metrics and any other relevant materials for accurate reporting to INL and stakeholders on fulfilment of objectives; Support yearly audit reporting requests;Maintain an archive of up-to-date files and records of project documentation;Provide logistical support for workshops, training events and other meetings as tasked by the CWC director;Manage the CWCTN Project Administrator;Promote the implementation of CWC best practices among regional teams;Attend key events, workshops, and meetings as a representative of the organization with the primary intention of building and strengthening partnerships; Provide input to CWC-related communication products to ensure accurate and appropriate information is promoted and publicized and; Where necessary support the implementation of additional regional and global CWC-related activities. Supervisory Responsibilities CWCTN Project Administrator Qualifications & experience Educated to postgraduate master's level or equivalent 5 years of relevant experience;Experience managing INL or other U.S. Government grants/contracts in excess of one million dollars;Experience managing conservation projects, demonstrated ability to achieve this remotely is a bonus;Excellent verbal and written communication skills, experience writing reports;Exceptional project planning, financial reporting and management skills;English language fluency. Skills in other languages, e.g. Spanish, French, and Malay are advantageous but not required;Demonstrated interest and knowledge of conservation issues, specifically the illegal wildlife trade;Proven experience and ability to collaborate with colleagues across countries and cultures;Willingness to work across timezones and outside conventional hours on occasion;Ability to prioritize with an adaptive ability to reorganize tasks on a rolling basis throughout the day/week; Skilled at building consensus with conservation partners and other stakeholders;Skilled with Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, Power Point, etc., experience with expense reporting software is a bonus and;The ideal candidate will have excellent attention to detail and be a self-starter willing to take initiative to engage the many and varied needs of Panthera's INL/GPP project.  How to Apply Interested applicants may submit their most updated CV, along with a cover letter via the Panthera Careers Page.
