Description
You as a Project Controller will be part of Hitachi Energy business based in Modderfontein, South Africa. You will be part of Power Grids; Grid Automation and will be reporting to the operating unit Controller. You are responsible for ensuring maintenance and completeness of project files and effective communication during project review meetings, ensuring governance and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Your responsibilities
Ensuring compliance with SOX procedures and involvement in the handover of new projects from proposals to operations.
Project controlling for PS module contracts, run by Project Managers.
Approval of tenders by checking the as-sold financials of a project within a certain threshold and maintaining regular informal contact with project managers to discuss the status of their jobs.
Conducting formal monthly project reviews with the project manager to the steering committee and acting as a project financial partner.
Responsible for overseeing contracts related to the production of panels and projects related to the Service area of our business, e.g., Service Level Agreements.
Reviewing hours booked to contracts and recoveries to cost centers to ensure accuracy.
Applying for Bonds and Guarantees, maintaining Guarantee registers, and ensuring complete contract files on SharePoint and accurate records in the SAP system.
Ensuring compliance with governance and reporting regulations, including International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and ensuring accurate and timely invoicing on all contracts.
Following up on debtors and assisting with debtor-related queries.
Performing CPA calculations with an in-depth knowledge of how to calculate the CPA on contracts and invoices.
Having in-depth knowledge of import shipping documents to invoice foreign parts of contracts and performing month-end reconciliations to report to the business unit controller.
Monitoring sales order integrity for correct data parameters (e.g., order type, distribution channel, salesman) and ensuring monthly updates of planned costs and estimates to complete while monitoring and reporting on overdue milestones and completion billing.
Monitoring and managing project cash flows, including monthly monitoring and reporting on contract risks and opportunities.
Implementing an effective contract/sales order close-out process, including setting the project to close off related production orders and clearing outstanding commitments.

Your background
A bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or commerce is required.
Minimum 1 to 2 years of experience in project controlling is preferred.
Experience with SD (Sales & Distribution) and PS (Project Systems) modules in SAP is required.
Ability to work under pressure to meet month-end deadlines.
Ability to work with different stakeholders at various levels of authority.
Analytical skills are essential.
Experience working with large volumes of projects/sales orders.
Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills, along with proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Word.
Proficiency in both spoken and written English is required.
