UN Women South Africa Multi-Country Office (SAMCO) is based in Pretoria, South Africa and covers 5 countries (Botswana, Lesotho Namibia, South Africa, and Swaziland). SAMCO works with the government, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and the Private Sector to contribute to gender equality through the formulation and implementation of norms, laws, policies, programmes, and services that ensure the human rights of women and girls and increase economic participation.
The EntreprenHer to Accelerate Women's Owned Micro Enterprise Phase 3 programme has been designed to target 1500 women entrepreneurs in the informal sector who have been adversely affected by the economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic as well as the rising unemployment and inequality in the region. The 3-year programme (2023-2026) is proposed to be implemented in South Africa, Botswana, and Namibia.
The overall goal of the programme is to equip low-income women entrepreneurs (micro-entrepreneurs and members of Women Business Associations) with business skills that contribute to managing their enterprises, create decent jobs and acquire income security and/or autonomy.
The consultant will be reporting to the Deputy Representative and will be supported by the Strategic Partnership Specialist who will be the point of contact on the contract and payment issues.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesTo provide capacity-building skills in gender and Climate Smart Agriculture resilience techniques to Macro Owned Enterprises and NPOs in Limpopo (specifically the municipalities of Blouberg and Musina) management support to the UN Women programme called EntreprenHer III (Accelerate Women Owned Enterprises) 2024-2026). The incumbent will be responsible for coordinating on the ground with the EntreprenHer Trainers and Non-Governmental Organizations working on the ground who will share the identified x50 women to benefit from the training.
The Consultant will lead the training component of the programme for the duration of the contract for South Africa in the Limpopo Province, specifically:
Manage the Climate Smart Agriculture programme implementation component for Limpopo in the Musina and Blouberg municipalities for micro-owned enterprises.Develop Training material to be used to enable showcasing funder of programme what this new component for Phase III of the programme on CSA will look like.Produce reports on a quarterly basis for UN Women to integrate into overall quarterly reporting.Liaise with the Trainers and Local Economic Development teams on potential areas for CSA intervention for the province beyond the programme.No of days/duration %Allocation and amount Pre-Intervention Develop workplan and present Inception Report.
