The Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Office develops and implements initiatives aimed at advancing equity, diversity and inclusion within the learning and working environments across the Faculty of Arts & Science.
YOUR OPPORTUNITY: Under the general direction of the Director, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion, the Project Advisor, EDI is responsible for identifying issues, advising on strategy and communications options, recommending solutions, implementing project plans, and responding to the objectives and priorities of the Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion. Responsibilities include:
Working closely with members of Office of EDI and the A&S Dean's Office in implementing projects and initiatives related to equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging.Undertaking detailed research on a wide variety of issues and topics related to equity, diversity and inclusion.Providing advice and administrative support on EDI matters and other issues impacting the Faculty.Developing draft communications, such as remarks, presentations, communication materials, and correspondence.The incumbent works closely with internal stakeholders within the Faculty and the broader university EDI team and partners, displaying an understanding of the University's commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED I. EDUCATION: Graduate degree in a relevant area of study, preferably with a focus on dispute resolution, human rights, equity, diversity, and inclusion or acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
II. EXPERIENCE Minimum four (4) years' experience in a post-secondary setting; experience advancing equity projects within a post-secondary environment or similar complex organization.Demonstrated commitment to the principles and issues of equity and human rights.Experience designing and delivering educational programs.Experience in curriculum design and delivery, adult learning principles, and group facilitation.III. SKILLS Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office; Familiarity with Microsoft SharePoint an asset; Web design skills such as content management software and WordPress preferred.
IV: OTHER: Strong research, writing, communication, presentation and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently with a high degree of initiative, discretion, and tact.
