Job category: Other: Banking, Finance, Insurance, StockbrokingLocation: Cape TownContract: Fixed Term ContractEE position: NoIntroductionTo assist the Business Unit Financial Manager/Senior Profit Analyst with providing the business with a sound system of performance management that is aligned with the achievement of company wide financial goals and balanced scorecard. To optimize the ongoing and sustainable profit performance of the decision by providing the necessary decision-making framework and support.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist the Business Unit Financial Manager/Senior Profit Analyst with month end reporting. Variances to budget and last year are analysed and recommendations are made to correct or improve Foods profitability.Assist with effective planning in the form of an annual budget which is regularly updated with a forecast. Liaise with BU stakeholders to provide accurate, consolidated budgets and forecasts for the BU.Budget & forecast variances are analysed and recommendations are made to correct or improve Foods profitability.Perform in-depth analysis on key financial risk/opportunity areas in the business. Communicate financial levers and provide clear recommendations.Assist with expense reports and variance analyses on BU cost centres. Identify cost management opportunities and make recommendations.Prepare and maintain/update performance scorecards on a monthly basis.Review business initiatives to ensure that they meet the required returns and support the BU in presenting cases to the Investment Committee.Contribute positively to financial performance as recognized by the Foods Trading Head and the Trading team.Play an effective role in the Finance team to ensure the combined delivery of the Finance Strategy.Develop and use financial models and define key profit drivers.Explain financial models to line management.Use models for ongoing Business Unit performance assessment and management.Produce clear financial management information.Analyze financial information and make clear recommendations for improvement.Inspire and motivate others around them.Effectively use latest decision support technologies (e.g. Hyperion, Cognos, Excel).Minimum QualificationsB Comm or similar articles - >1 year experience within a retail (or similar) environment.B Comm or similar - 3 years' experience within a retail (or similar) environment.
