CORE PURPOSE OF JOB To facilitate the learning process in Financial Accounting / Corporate Financial Reporting for undergraduate and postgraduate students, the majority of whom intend to qualify as Chartered Accountants (SA).
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS Facilitate the learning process in Financial Accounting / Corporate Financial Reporting (by taking responsibility for course material, lectures, tutorials and setting and moderating assessments) for undergraduate and postgraduate students, the majority of whom intend to qualify as Chartered Accountants (SA) - both day and evening groups.Undertake research and scholarly activities.Supervise postgraduate students.Engage with professional bodies and other stakeholders.Perform related administrative duties.CORE COMPETENCIES Sound (lecturer/senior lecturer) or in-depth (associate professor/professor) knowledge in the theory and application of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), recent trends and developments in the field, evidenced, among others, by a sound record of accomplishment of academic performance in the subject area.Experience in facilitating learning for undergraduate and/or postgraduate students intending to qualify as Chartered Accountants (SA).Exposure to or experience in academic leadership and/or course coordination.Potential to contribute to the creation of knowledge in research and publication (lecturer).Relevant knowledge of research methodologies in the field of Financial Reporting/Corporate Financial Reporting and potential to supervise postgraduate students (senior lecturer) or have experience in supervision of postgraduate students (associate professor/professor) and be engaged in research and scholarly activities (senior lecturer/associate professor/professor).The innate desire to deliver work of an excellent standard.Strong communication (written/verbal) skills.Initiative and the motivation to work without needing extensive supervision.Strong interpersonal and leadership skills and be able to work as part of a team.Strong administrative skills.Added advantages and preferences: Experience in the facilitation and management of large diverse student groups.Experience in blended learning practices.Experience and a thorough understanding of trending technologies including data and/or accounting analytics.Involvement in professional activities or with professional bodies and other stakeholders.REQUIREMENTS In order to be considered for the Professor rank, candidates should:
Be a Chartered Accountant (SA);Be in possession of a relevant doctoral degree (NQF level 10 qualification) specialising in Financial Accounting/Corporate Financial Reporting with an established research profile or a national standing within the field of Financial Accounting/Corporate Financial Reporting; andHave at least 4-7 years (i.e.
extensive) relevant working experience as an associate professor or related experience specialising in Financial Accounting/Corporate Financial Reporting as well as a thorough understanding of recent trends and developments in the field*.* Preference will be given to candidates who have experience and a thorough understanding of trending technologies including data and/or accounting analytics and those with experience in facilitation of learning at the postgraduate level. In order to be considered for the Associate Professor rank, candidates should:
Be a Chartered Accountant (SA);Be in possession of a relevant Master's degree (NQF level 9 qualification) specialising in Financial Accounting/Corporate Financial Reporting with a developing research profile or an established recognised national standing within the field of Financial Accounting/Corporate Financial Reporting; andHave 4-7 years (i.e.
extensive) relevant and/or related work experience specialising in Financial Accounting/Corporate Financial Reporting as well as a thorough understanding of recent trends and developments in the field*.* Preference will be given to candidates who have experience and a thorough understanding of trending technologies including data and/or accounting analytics and those with experience in facilitation of learning at the postgraduate level
