ELIGIBILITY:Suitably qualified candidates.CLOSING DATE:17.12.2024REFERENCE NUMBER:RP 08/24 Ext.SALARY:Basic Salary R 478 299 p.aDEPARTMENT:Recreation and ParksDIRECTORATE:COMMUNITY SERVICES and HEALTHProfessional Officer - Cemetery ManagementRequirements:Relevant B degree in Development/Urban Planning (with extensive cemetery governance and management experience), LLB, and/or Public Management.2-5 years' relevant experience within local government environment specifically pertaining to policy, strategy, and data analytics/systems development related to cemetery governance and management.A valid Code EB driver's licence and own vehicle.Computer Literacy.Key Performance Areas:Provides support for and a future understudy to the Head Cemetery Management.Develops and maintains the performance management system and processes.Assists with planning for the future development of cemeteries and crematoria.Assists and advises with the monitoring of the collection and input of data by booking office clerks and cemetery supervisors.Supports the department's research function and training initiatives.Assists with communication with internal and external stakeholders by appropriate means to ensure that people are properly informed and that the Cemetery Division is well marketed.Meets with stakeholders (e.g., religious forums, heritage, undertakers, and stonemasons) through the establishment of specific forums.Assists with the development of legislative frameworks for interment operations by revising the Municipal By-Laws, developing policy and standard operating procedures, reviewing the tariff schedule annually, and reviewing related ordinances and notices.Provides support for the management of capital projects by preparing draft budgets and reports.Preparation and monitoring of relevant tenders for procurement of various goods and services.
