Tygerberg Hospice requires the services of a dynamic Registered Nurse to work at our Intermediate Care Facility based on the grounds of Karl Bremer Hospital. The successful candidate will work 12 hours per shift on a roster basis.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
5 years' experience as a registered nurse.
Registered with SANC and must have professional indemnity.
A certificate in palliative care would be an advantage.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Planned patient care is rendered according to SANC and the Nursing Act 1978.
Manage a shift and work within an Interdisciplinary team.
Stringent observation and evaluation of the patients' condition.
Ensure medication compliance.
Ensure patients receive total nursing care, all symptoms are monitored, and interventions recorded.
Liaise closely with the manager and other members of the IDT.
Provide comprehensive palliative care to patients and families.
Be able to monitor and assess specific symptoms.
To be familiar with procedures in Palliative care, e.g., Syringe drivers, Complex dressings.
All observations and interventions to be recorded, when necessary, reported to the IDT.
Individual needs of patients are met through professional and regulatory standards.
Patient records accurately recorded, maintained, and stored.
All tasks and responsibilities performed in accordance with strict infection control and Health & Safety policies of Tygerberg Hospice.
Appropriate risk assessment tools utilised to identify actual and potential risks and appropriate interventions implemented.

Be able to work as part of the interdisciplinary team.
Speak a minimum of 2 of the official languages of the Western Cape.
