Professional Engineer or Professional Technologist - Roads & Highways REPORTS TO Function Manager or any other person appointed to supervise him/her from time to time.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Develop design ability and quality within the function group. Able to organise information well and communicate design intent through software tool output e.g. structure a drawing correctly and communicate design intent through drawing using CAD. Draft technical reports of excellent technical and presentational quality. Provide technical solutions and develop an appreciation of outcomes. Taking ownership and responsibility for their work and completing it on time and within budget. Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel and check and take responsibility for the work of others. Supervise a small team of junior technical staff and ensure effective utilisation of team members. Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals. Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders. Quality assurance throughout the project life cycle. Managing all sections of projects. Good software tool understanding whilst working with minimum supervision to produce deliverables. Understand the principles of the design process and how design is translated into deliverables through the use of software tools. Able to present/represent their technical work, present service offering to potential clients and present technical work at technical conferences. Understands the key project issues and how this influences their work. Submission of Expression of Interest EOIs, RFQs, tenders and Proposals for the function and to provide input into large infrastructure projects as required. Ability to check and inspect constructed works for compliance with design and specifications. Work on multiple projects/contracts at the same time. Build, develop and grow any business relationships vital to the success of the project. RECOMMENDED QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE B. Eng or B. Tech degree from an accredited University or University of Technology. Professional registration with ECSA. 10+ years' post graduate experience in the design and implementation of transportation and/or municipal services infrastructure, bulk water and sewerage infrastructure. Working knowledge of Autodesk Civil3D and/or Bentley Microstation is essential. Working knowledge of Infraworks, Storm & Sewer Analyses, iDAS, Water Design Software or Open Roads will be advantageous. Interest or experience in BIM systems will be a distinct advantage. Ability to write technical reports. Excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills. Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Experience in administering GCC 2015 projects. Professional delivery and appearance to ensure SMEC image is maintained. Courteous and business-orientated manners when communicating with stakeholders to foster and promote good working relations. Co-operative and flexible work style to work in a team environment. Project financial knowledge including budgeting, forecasting and invoicing.
