This position is crucial for driving innovation & maintaining optimal production efficiency across our vineyard & propagation operations.
Experience with grapevines, blueberries & strawberries will benefit the applicant.
Key Responsibilities: Technical & Operational Leadership: Oversee and enhance tissue culture processes, ensuring genetic integrity, plant health, & high propagation success rates.
Apply advanced propagation techniques to optimise yields & production timelines.
Monitor & manage environmental controls for propagation, including light, temperature, & humidity optimization for plant growth Supply & Demand Chain Management: Plan & oversee the propagation & supply of tissue culture according to demand forecasts.
Participate in forecast planning with production teams.
Manage critical stock levels Quality & Compliance: Implement rigorous quality control systems to maintain the highest standards in plant material.
Ensure compliance with local & international agricultural standards, certifications, & protocols.
Implement an accurate & effective traceability process Leadership & Team Development: Mentor & train propagation staff on cutting-edge techniques & technologies.
Foster a collaborative team environment focused on achieving shared goals.
Core competencies, essential qualifications, skills, and experience: Matric required.
A tertiary qualification will be advantageous; Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar role; Expertise in tissue culture development & plant propagation techniques; Proficiency in demand planning, budgeting, & supply chain coordination; Strong analytical skills with a proactive approach to problem-solving & decision-making; Excellent interpersonal & communication abilities to manage relationships with producers, clients, & internal teams.
