A well-established client in East London is seeking a skilled Production Manager to oversee their manufacturing operations in the automotive industry. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring efficient production processes, meeting production targets, and maintaining high product quality standards. This role requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise in automotive manufacturing, and a commitment to continuous improvement. Responsibilities: Production Planning and Scheduling: Develop and implement production schedules to meet customer demands and optimize resource utilization. Coordinate with various departments to ensure timely delivery of materials and components. Quality Assurance: Implement quality control measures to ensure products meet industry standards and customer specifications. Address any quality issues promptly and implement corrective actions. Team Management: Supervise and motivate production teams to achieve production targets and maintain morale. Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback and training as needed. Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction. Implement lean manufacturing principles and other best practices to enhance efficiency. Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and maintain a safe working environment. Conduct regular safety audits and promote a culture of safety awareness. Budget Management: Monitor production costs and implement measures to control expenses. Prepare and manage the production budget effectively. Supplier and Vendor Relations: Collaborate with procurement and logistics teams to manage supplier relationships and ensure timely delivery of materials. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field. (Master's degree preferred) Proven experience as a Production Manager or similar role in the automotive industry. In-depth knowledge of automotive manufacturing processes and technologies. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate teams. Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Familiarity with quality management systems (ISO standards, Six Sigma, etc.). Proficiency in production planning and scheduling software. Knowledge of health and safety regulations and environmental standards. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities effectively. Preferred Qualifications: Certification in Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma. Experience with ERP systems for production management. Advanced understanding of automotive supply chain dynamics.
