Solve technical issues on the shop floor as needed, exhibiting a hands-on approach.
Report to the Directors, maintaining self-sufficiency in operational decision-making.
Liaise directly with customers when required, handling problem-solving and customer relations.
Supervise and manage a staff complement of approximately 100 people.
Plan and coordinate production for both day and night shifts (working day shift, but ensuring smooth night shift operations).
Daily duties include: Walking the workshop floor to ensure correct parts are on the appropriate machines.
Ensuring adherence to manufacturing procedures by staff.
Troubleshooting with the Maintenance Manager on-site.
Communicating with customers regarding overdue or problematic items.
Ensuring job cards are correctly completed by staff.
Maintaining high standards of housekeeping, health, and safety on-site.
Machinery and Equipment On-Site: 22 CNC mills / lathes 4 CNC Gear Grinders Heat Treatment Plant with laboratory 22 Gear Shapers / Gear Cutters 20 Hobbing machines Qualification & Experience Requirements: Degree, Diploma, or Trade Test in Mechanical Engineering with relevant managerial experience.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in the manufacturing and production industry, preferably with exposure to the mining, agriculture, or construction sectors.
Proficiency in reading complex engineering drawings.
Skilled in the use of measuring equipment and familiarity with metal machining processes such as turning, milling, and heat treatment.
Strong background in manufacturing and production processes.
Production planning and goal-setting abilities.
Knowledge of health and safety regulations and employment laws.
Basic financial acumen is beneficial.
