JOB TYPE: Full-TimeLOCATION: South Africa, Somerset WestREPORT TO: Production Manager KEY PURPOSE OF JOB As part of a major growth strategy, a component and sub-system supplier to theinternational satellite market is seeking a production planner, to provide support to theproduction manager through scheduling of production jobs and by coordinating allproduction administrative activities through the production process to ensure that allproduction jobs are closed off in due time.
KEY TASKS • Assists the Production Manager in the execution of projects by performing a widevariety of administrative tasks, including but not limited to the timely management ofproduction jobs• Responsible for issuing production job sheets and related documents to theproduction team aligned with the production plan• Tracking production schedules and making sure that they are met by communicatingchanges to the production team and the production planner• Escalate deviations from the production plan to the production manager and planner• Supporting the production team with the completion of tasks in the manufacturingmanagement system (co-ordinating thereof)• Coordinate with the Production Manager to resolve control issues• MOM – ensuring that the transaction reviews are completed on a regular basis andthat the operations are synced to Syspro• Communicate with Production Management about working hours of the productionteam to ensure that production needs are met efficiently and effectively• Responsible for requisitions, floor stock issue and material allocations for productionon Syspro and ensure it is handed over to the production team• Responsible for ensuring that the stores team adhere to the kitting plan and tocommunicate and escalate any deviations• Other ad-hoc duties as required by the company PREREQUISITESQUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE Qualification • Degree or Diploma in Production Planning, Demand Planning, IndustrialEngineering or Supply Chain (or similar)Experience & Knowledge:• At least 3 years of production planning and or administrative experience withina high-tech manufacturing environment• Computer proficiency in MS Office & ERP systems• Previous exposure to other production planning tools will be an addedadvantage• Syspro experience will be an advantage COMPETENCIES & SKILLS • Strong understanding of Production Processes and Principles• Self-starter who is confident, independent and can work without close supervision• Analytical and problem-solving skills• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability tocommunicate complex issues to varying audiences and levels• Ability to collaborate and influence stakeholders (internal and external) to ensurea successful client experiences.
