Job Description We seek a full-time ProductionCoordinator (also known as a Production Editor in thepublishing industry) to work on our diverse list of academicjournals. The office is conveniently located in Durbanville andis accessible by public transportation. Please note that nowriting or copy-editing of manuscripts is required, and littleto no proofreading is included in the position; it is largelyproject management.
The Production Coordinator roleis a core position within the production department. Assuch, production coordinators are assigned a group ofjournals for which they are responsible, from acceptanceof manuscripts to online publication.
Production Coordinators overseemanuscript and issue production while maintainingarticle and issue schedules, page budgets, and communicationwith authors and Editors-in-Chief and interoffice departments.The Production Coordinator must have an eye for detail andorganisation and be able to manage complex journals andpersonalities, stay on top of updated processes, multi-task, andexcel in a fast-paced, deadline-drivenenvironment.

Office: Durbanville, South Africa (This is not a remote work position)
Office Hours: 08h00-17h00

RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Manage aportfolio of journal titles, ensuring that they run onoptimised workflows and meet department publicationmetrics. 2. Maintainarticle and issue schedules, metadata, andpage budgets, and uphold quality standardsthroughout the publication process. 3. CompleteProduction Checks by assessing the production quality ofincoming manuscripts; ensure that all relevant files arereceived and that they follow establishedguidelines. 4. Reviewcopy-edited materials to ensure that they follow thePublishers' style guidelines and ensure that theauthor's corrections have been properly implemented.Check final Proofs for consistency, accuracy, andcompleteness of manuscripts and issues before onlinepublication. 5. Offerconstructive support and guidance to assigned vendorproject managers. 6. Provideexcellent customer service for assignedEditors-in-Chief, authors, internaldepartments, and external vendors andcustomers. 7. Assist and leaddepartment projects as required.

Requirements Qualifications
Bachelor'sdegree or extensive equivalent relevant experienceprofessional experience (Any relevant education,certifications and/or work experience may beconsidered. )
Minimum of twoyears' experience in a publishingenvironment A strongcommand of English grammar and academicreferencing styles Successfullythrive in a fast, process-drivenworkflow Experienceworking with external suppliers andpartners Experienceworking in a customer-facing role Experience in projectmanagement (in a publishing context), with a track recordof managing multiple projectssimultaneously. Familiaritywith Microsoft Office software (especiallyWord and Excel), content management, and/orcustomer relationship managementsystems Demonstratedability to be detail-oriented, accurate, and aproblem-solver Excellentorganisation skills and confidence in completing multipletasks to deadlines Excellentcommunication and interpersonal skills, oral andwritten Flexibility toadjust to changes in work plans orassignments Familiaritywith printing and electronic publishingmethods and procedures Familiaritywith Oxford StyleManual
